a student-run web studio

Websites, built while the ink's still wet.

DAMP is a collective of interns who design and build full websites, front end and back end, for businesses that need one done properly, without an agency-sized invoice. We fund our own training by doing real client work, so every project gets the attention a portfolio piece deserves.

what we build

Three kinds of work, one small team.

We keep our scope narrow on purpose. No apps, no platforms we can't stand behind, just websites done well from the design through to the database.

Business websites

frontend + backend

Full front end and back end for businesses of any kind, including the design work most cheap builds skip. That covers layout, brand colors and type, the pages themselves, and the server-side logic behind contact forms, bookings, logins, or anything else your site needs to actually do.

Every site we ship is mobile compatible from the first sketch, not adjusted afterward.

Forms and data logging

an alternative to Google Forms

Quiz forms, intake forms, and personalized data logging forms, built to match your brand instead of looking like a generic form template. We also set up and manage the system the data lands in, so you get a clean, usable record rather than a spreadsheet you have to clean up yourself.

Research, turned into a website

for colleges and research groups

Have a research topic, paper, or project that deserves more than a PDF nobody opens. We build it out as a proper website: a link you can share, that reads well, and that students and the public can actually get through. Good for college research groups and independent science projects alike.

what it costs elsewhere

Roughly half of what an agency would charge you.

Agency pricing for a small business website varies a lot depending on scope, but the pattern across current industry pricing guides is consistent. DAMP is built to sit well under all of it.

Build type Typical range What you're paying for
Freelance designer $1,500 to $8,000 One person, limited backend depth
Boutique or full agency $5,000 to $35,000+ Team overhead, account management, markup
DAMP under 50% of the above The same design and build quality, no agency overhead

Figures reflect 2026 small business website pricing reported across multiple industry surveys, where boutique agencies commonly quote $5,000 to $15,000 for a standard small business site and US agency hourly rates run $100 to $200 an hour. DAMP's lower overhead, no office, no account managers, no agency margin, lets us pass that difference on directly.

who's building this

Run by interns, for interns.

DAMP started as a way for a group of interns to fund their own growth. Instead of working for free or taking on unpaid busywork, we take on real client projects, front end, back end, and everything in between, and split the work across the team.

Clients get a properly built website at a fraction of agency cost. We get real projects, real clients, and real problems to solve, which is worth more to us than a certificate.

3
things we build: sites, forms, research pages

What we don't do: we build websites only, not native apps for Android or iOS. If your project needs an app rather than a site, we'll tell you upfront rather than take it on.

Tell us what you're building.

Send over a few lines about your business, form, or research project. We'll follow up with what it would take and what it would cost, usually within a couple of days.
